Protruly Darling is the world’s first virtual reality camera phone

Everyone who uses a smartphone has their preferences. Some people like devices with a big screen. Others prefer a great camera. Then there are some folks that like their
smartphones with a diamond-encrusted body and a 360-degree camera. The Protruly Darling was made for these people.

The Protruly Darling is a product of Shenzhen Darling Intelligence Technology Co., LTD, a tech company based in Shenzhen, China. The company sought to create the world’s first smartphone that can capture virtual reality (VR) video.

That dream was fulfilled with the Darling, which was displayed at the Mobile World Conference 2017.

According to Mashable writer Raymond Wong , the Protruly Darling is a really unusual smartphone. For one thing, he says, the device is quite long. However, the screen size is just 5.5 inches. The unusual length of the phone comes from the dual 13-megapixel fish-eye lenses connected to the bezel. Along with these fish-eye lenses, there’s also a 13MP camera on the back of the device. Also, it’s got an 8MP selfie camera.

This device runs on a customized version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, powered by a 2.5GHz deca-core Helio X20 MT6797 processor and 4GB of RAM. It also has an internal storage capacity of 64GB. Furthermore, it runs on a 3,560mAh battery.

Those were just the specifications, according to Raymond Wong. The device has two variants. The more expensive version sports a classy camera housing, made of leather, gold, and four embedded diamonds. The other variant
houses it’s camera in plastic. This less-expensive variant has a thermal sensor at the back. This is for taking the
temperature of things.

The biggest feature of these devices, however, is the 360-degree camera . It’s easy to use- just toggle the VR camera mode in the default camera app. However, there has been no word on how well the VR camera works outdoors.

The Protruly Darling is unusual, no doubt. It’s also quite expensive: the gold-plated variant costs $800, while the
other variant costs $500. However, it is only available for distribution in China . If it were available in Nigeria, however, would you use such a smartphone?
